The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday issued notices to the state on miscellaneous applications seeking an early hearing of the sentence suspension pleas of Advocate Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in the controversial tweets case
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th May, 2026) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday issued notices to the state on miscellaneous applications seeking an early hearing of the sentence suspension pleas of Advocate Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha in the controversial tweets case.
Justice Muhammad Azam Khan heard the applications and remarked, "We are issuing notices; we will hear the other party as well."
Advocate Faisal Siddiqui, counsel for Iman Mazari and Hadi Ali Chatha, requested the court to fix the case for hearing on Monday. Justice Azam Khan responded that Monday is the last working day before Eid and the case cannot be fixed on that day.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Faisal Siddiqui then submitted, "Fix it on Monday — even if the other party comes and seeks adjournment, we will not object." The court decided to fix the case for the first working day after Eid.
Riasat Ali Azad, a senior lawyer, requested the court to fix the case for Monday, stating that both lawyers are respected members of the bar. Justice Khan assured him he would review the cases scheduled for Monday.
Faisal Siddiqui subsequently requested the court to fix the case for the first working day after Eid. The court issued notices to the state and adjourned further proceedings.
