ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jun, 2026) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notices to the respondents in a petition challenging the legality of Ambreen Jan’s appointment as Chairperson of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA).
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir passed the order regarding hearing a petition filed by citizen Suhail Sajjad Rana.
The court also issued notices on the petitioner’s request seeking to restrain the PEMRA chairperson from performing official functions pending adjudication of the case.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>According to the court order, Ambreen Jan was appointed as PEMRA Chairperson on February 13. The petition states that an advertisement for the position was published on October 10, 2025, following which a selection committee was constituted on October 17.
After a preliminary hearing, the court issued notices to the respondents, including the PEMRA Chairperson and the Secretary Information and Broadcasting, directing them to submit their replies by July 8.
The hearing was adjourned until July 8 for further proceedings.
