Indian Sikh pilgrims arrive for Baisakhi Mela, Khalsa Day celebrations

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) Sikh pilgrims from India arrived in Pakistan through the Wagah border crossing on Friday to participate in the Baisakhi Mela and 327th Khalsa Day celebrations, organised by the Evacuee Trust Property board (ETPB) and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.

A large number of Sikh yatrees reached Pakistan, where they were warmly received by Provincial Minister Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, officials of the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC), including Sardar Satwant Singh, Sardar Tara Singh, Dr Mumpal Singh, and Satwant Kaur, along with Additional Secretary Shrines Nasir Mushtaq, commissioner Lahore and deputy commissioner Lahore.

Additional Secretary Shrines Nasir Mushtaq told the media comprehensive arrangements had been made for the pilgrims, including accommodation, langar, transport and medical facilities to ensure a comfortable stay.

Group leader Sardar Harjeet Singh expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and said Pakistan is a peace-loving country where Sikhs from across the world wish to visit, adding that they receive great respect and hospitality here.

Pilgrims from various Indian states, including Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, are part of the visiting group. After completing immigration and customs formalities at Wagah, the yatrees were served refreshments at the reception camp.

The pilgrims will be transported in three separate convoys to Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib, with the first group already departing under strict security arrangements.

The main Baisakhi ceremony will be held on April 14 at Gurdwara Panja Sahib.
