Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem on Tuesday visited Gujranwala and inaugurated the newly-constructed building of Aimanabad Police Station and Police Khidmat Markaz established at the Regional Police Office (RPO)
Gujranwala, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th May, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem on Tuesday visited Gujranwala and inaugurated the newly-constructed building of Aimanabad Police Station and Police Khidmat Markaz established at the Regional Police Office (RPO).
Upon arrival at Police Lines Gujranwala, a smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour to the IGP. He laid a wreath at the Martyrs' Memorial and offered Fateha as well.
Addressing a police darbar at Police Lines, the IGP directed officers to ensure strict implementation of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision regarding merit, transparency, better public dealing and zero tolerance against corruption.
He said no effort would be spared to improve service delivery and maintain law and order for transforming the vision of a crime-free Punjab into reality.
Later, the IGP visited Safe City Gujranwala and reviewed the performance of the Chief Minister’s Wi-Fi facility and Virtual Women Police Station. He also visited the headquarters of Crime Control Department (CCD) and Dolphin Force.
A meeting chaired by the IGP was held at the RPO Office Gujranwala, attended by RPO Khurram Shahzad Haider Warraich, district police officers and heads of various units.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>During the briefing, the RPO informed the meeting that compared to the first quarter of last year, 765 fewer robbery cases were reported in Gujranwala Region during the first quarter of 2026, while the overall crime rate also witnessed a significant decline.
IGP Abdul Kareem said that, like Gujranwala Region, a comprehensive crackdown against drug dealers is continuing across Punjab. He said complete control over crime in riverine areas has been achieved and no-go areas have been eliminated.
Talking to the media, IGP Abdul Kareem said a significant reduction in crime rate has been achieved across Punjab through effective strategy, teamwork and use of modern technology. He said significant improvements have also been made in educational institutions and police infrastructure in riverine areas due to the special efforts of CM Punjab.
He further said that under the vision of the chief minister, improvements are being made in the traffic management system, public awareness regarding traffic laws has increased and helmet usage has significantly risen.
