Int'l delegation meets Health Minister, focuses on investment, promotion of modern technology in health sector

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) International delegation of Abbott Laboratories met with Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal and discussed bilateral cooperation, investment and promotion of modern technology in the health sector.

According to the Ministry on Wednesday, the delegation praised the initiative of the Ministry of Health to digitize the registration process of medical devices.

Speaking on the occasion, Mustafa Kamal said that in the past, registration of medical equipment ranging from wheelchairs to MRI machines used to take a long time. However, due to recent reforms, the process is now being completed within around 20 days.

The delegation praised the ongoing initiative to eliminate Hepatitis C

The health minister said the government had launched a comprehensive programme to eliminate hepatitis, adding that the pilot phase of the programme, which had remained stalled for the past decade, was launched in Islamabad today.

Mustafa Kamal said the government was shifting the country’s health system from disease treatment to disease prevention.

He added that children are being provided with free vaccines to prevent 13 deadly diseases

However, in view of the end of international funding by 2030, work is underway rapidly on local vaccine production in the country, he noted.

Members of the delegation assured cooperation and expressed willingness to make efforts for vaccine production and the manufacturing of raw materials in Pakistan.
