Inter-departmental football championship 2026 kicks off at NTUF

FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Apr, 2026) Inter-departmental Football Championship 2026 kicked off at National Textile University

Faisalabad (NTUF) with great enthusiasm, as students, faculty members and sports

enthusiasts gathered at the university’s football ground to witness

the inaugural ceremony.

Dr Muhammad Qamar Khan, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Clothing Department,

formally inaugurated the championship by kicking the football symbolically to mark

the opening of the tournament.

Sports Officer Imran Ali Gill and Public Relations Officer Sardar Pervez Akhtar were also

present on the occasion.

A large number of teachers, students and sports lovers attended the ceremony, reflecting

strong participation and interest in extracurricular activities at the university.

The opening match was played between the Textile Engineering Technology (TET) Department and the Fashion Design Department, which turned out to be a thrilling contest.

The Fashion Design team secured a narrow 3-2 goals victory over TET after displaying an impressive attacking strategy and scoring the decisive goal in the closing moments of the match.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Muhammad Qamar Khan emphasized the importance of sports in student life, saying that inter-departmental competitions not only promote harmony among students but also help enhance their physical and mental abilities.

He extended the best wishes to both teams and officials, expressing hope that the championship would prove to be a milestone in the university’s history.

Sports Officer Imran Ali Gill said that more exciting matches would be witnessed during the course of the championship.

According to a university spokesperson, the Inter-departmental Football Championship 2026 would promote sports culture among students and ensure healthy competition within the campus.
