International Maritime activity rises at Gwadar Port as Panama-flagged vessel anchors

GWADAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Gwadar Port witnessed a surge in international maritime and trade activity as the Panama-flagged cargo vessel MV KAI XUAN anchored at the port, carrying over 29,000 tons of cargo. The ship, measuring 189.8 meters in length, transported machinery, equipment, and steel from China en route to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, after stopping at Fujairah Port.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry highlighted that the government is accelerating efforts to transform Gwadar into a global trade hub. He noted that modern facilities, investment opportunities, and services for international shipping companies are being expanded to align the port with global standards.

Chairman Gwadar Port Authority Noor-ul-Haq Baloch emphasized that the arrival of large international vessels reflects the growing scope of commercial activity at the port. He added that Gwadar’s strategic location and modern infrastructure will enable it to emerge as a vital transit and trade gateway for the region.

Officials underscored that Gwadar Port is increasingly becoming central to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and regional trade, promising greater stability for Pakistan’s economy.
