Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) retains around 60 percent of its naval weapons and fast-attack boats. It alleged that these assets have previously been used in operations targeting vessels in the Strait of Hormuz
OKARA: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 22nd, 2026) A US television network has claimed that Iran still maintains a significant portion of its military capabilities, including missile systems and naval assets, despite ongoing regional tensions.
In its report, the media outlet stated that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) retains around 60 percent of its naval weapons and fast-attack boats.
It alleged that these assets have previously been used in operations targeting vessels in the Strait of Hormuz. The report further suggested that nearly two-thirds of Iran’s air force remains operational.
The report also argued that Iran’s military strength is greater than what has been publicly acknowledged by the US administration.
Reacting strongly, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed the claims, accusing segments of the US media of promoting narratives favourable to the Iranian government.
She said that under former President Donald Trump, US forces had significantly weakened Iran’s defence-industrial infrastructure within a short period.
Leavitt further claimed that Iran’s ability to produce ballistic missiles and long-range drones had been pushed back by years, while its naval capability had been effectively destroyed.
Separately, she clarified that no deadline has been set for a ceasefire with Iran, rejecting speculation about any fixed timeline for ending the conflict.
