Provision of bunkers has been repeatedly delayed due to logistical issues, say reports
Tel Aviv: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-March 19, 2026) Some Israeli military personnel have reportedly refused to report for duty due to a shortage of bunkers and inadequate protection against rocket and missile attacks.
The Israeli media reported that the volunteer soldiers expressed serious concerns over insufficient safety measures and declined to take up postings, citing the lack of proper shelter during air raid situations.
The reports added that the provision of bunkers has been repeatedly delayed due to logistical issues.
One soldier described the situation as dangerous, saying that when sirens sound, troops are left with no option but to wear helmets and pray for safety.
Another personnel questioned the preparedness of the system, asking whether expressions of regret would be the only response in case someone gets injured.
In a sarcastic remark, some soldiers pointed out that while the military is capable of targeting objectives located up to 2,000 kilometres away, it appears unable to provide basic bunker protection for its own personnel.
The reports highlighted growing concerns among the troops regarding safety and operational readiness amid ongoing security challenges.
