Jennie debuted " Less than a Lover" at the 2026 Governors Ball Music Festival in the United States.

Jennie of K-pop group “BLACKPINK” will release a new solo single titled “Less than a Lover” at Friday, her agency OA Entertainment announced that she marking her latest musical release and a notable shift away from the performance driven style of her previous work.

According to OA Entertainment, “Less than a Lover” is a summer themed track built around lo-fi guitar tones and a vintage electric keyboard, paired with more subdued, mature vocals than fans have heard from Jennie in past releases.

Jennie took an active role in shaping the track, contributing to the songwriting and directing the accompanying music video, according to her agency. She was also involved in the broader production process behind the release by continuing a pattern of hands on creative involvement in her solo work.

Before its official release, “Less than a Lover” has already been performed live at several major international music festivals. Jennie debuted the song at the 2026 Governors Ball Music Festival in the United States, followed by performances at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, Poland’s Open’er Festival, and Spain’s Mad Cool Festival.

Jennie’s global festival run isn’t over yet , she scheduled to continue performing next month with upcoming appearances at Lollapalooza Chicago in the U.S. and Summer Sonic 2026 in Japan, giving fans multiple opportunities to hear the new single performed live before and after its official release.

The release adds to Jennie’s growing catalog of solo material, further establishing her as one of the most prominent solo voices to emerge from BLACKPINK.
