HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) Sindh Agriculture University (SAU) Tandojam is fast emerging as one of the country’s leading institutions in sports, as major infrastructure projects near completion and student participation in both indoor and outdoor games continues to grow.
This was stated by Vice Chancellor SAU Engr. Prof Dr Altaf Ali Siyal while addressing a farewell ceremony held in honor of Director Sports Anwar Hussain Khanzada on his retirement on Thursday.
He said that a state-of-the-art Judo academy and an Astroturf Hockey ground were in the final stages of completion, adding that these facilities would significantly strengthen the university’s sports infrastructure and promote healthy activities among students.
Dr Siyal noted that SAU had consistently produced talented athletes who had represented Pakistan at various levels. He added that the university enjoyed a prominent position among higher education institutions in the country in the field of sports. He further said that alongside modern international games, traditional sports of Sindh were also being actively promoted at the university.
SAU, he added, had the distinction of hosting inter-university sports competitions and extending its sports facilities to youth from surrounding areas.
Highlighting the services of Mr Khanzada, the Vice Chancellor said that he had played a pivotal role in improving sports infrastructure and ensuring equal opportunities for both male and female students. “This momentum will be sustained in the future,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, retired Director Sports Anwar Hussain Khanzada said he had discharged his responsibilities with professionalism and dedication and always prioritized student welfare. He expressed his willingness to continue supporting the university and contribute towards organizing national and international sports events.
Registrar Ghulam Mohiyuddin Qureshi, Riasat Ali Kubbar, In-charge Director Sports Shoukat Hussain Sangi, Ghulam Hyder Joyo and Mohammad Ashraf Rustmani also spoke on the occasion. Heads of various administrative departments were also present.
