MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) Commissioner Amir Karim Khan has directed authorities to ensure completion of the under-construction 100-bed Cancer Hospital and PET Scan Cyclotron Project at Nishtar Hospital by June 30, emphasizing that the deadline must be met at all costs.
During his visit, the Commissioner inspected construction work from the basement to all operational floors, including the first, second and third floors, and expressed satisfaction over the ongoing finishing work. He also reviewed key facilities including the cafeteria, doctors’ rooms, electrical installations and reporting areas, directing officials to maintain quality standards and improve facilities for patients.
Amir Karim Khan stressed that approval of the staff package must be finalized before May 15 to ensure smooth operational readiness of the hospital.
Officials briefed the Commissioner that the Government of Punjab has provided complete funding for the 100-bed cancer hospital project. Civil work for the PET Scan and Cyclotron project has been completed, while major machinery has already been installed.
According to the briefing, only two components remain pending, installation of the Hot Cell and elevators. The Hot Cell equipment has reached Dubai Port and is expected to be installed by May 15, 2026, whereas elevators currently at Karachi Port were likely to be installed by May 10, 2026.
The Commissioner directed all concerned departments to complete both projects within the stipulated timeline, stating that the initiatives will significantly enhance modern cancer diagnosis and treatment facilities for patients across the region.
