A disturbing stalking case involving BTS star Jungkook has ended in a suspended prison sentence, with the accused now also facing deportation proceedings in South Korea, reigniting serious concerns over celebrity safety and obsessive fan behavior.
A Brazilian woman has been sentenced by a district court in Seoul to one year in prison, suspended for two years, after repeatedly targeting the K-pop star’s private residence in a series of intrusive incidents that authorities described as an “extreme level of obsession.”
The court heard that the woman began approaching Jungkook’s home in December last year, ignoring repeated warnings. In one alarming incident, she allegedly rang his doorbell 133 times and attempted to leave letters and photographs at his doorstep, claiming her actions were driven by “love.”
Her behavior escalated further when she was accused of loitering outside the property, throwing items over the wall, and pushing handwritten notes through gaps in the door.
She was later arrested on December 13 after reportedly following a food delivery worker to gain access through a side gate.
Although she was released the next day with a warning to stay away, authorities said she continued returning to the residence.
Police then issued an emergency restraining order preventing her from coming within 100 meters of Jungkook’s home. Despite this, the court noted she still visited the property a total of 22 times.
The case was later referred to prosecutors in February after repeated violations of police instructions. While the court acknowledged the seriousness of her actions, it also noted that the risk of reoffending was considered not significant when issuing the suspended sentence.
Following the ruling, the woman is now expected to face deportation from South Korea unless she successfully appeals the decision.
The case has once again highlighted growing concerns over celebrity security, especially as Jungkook one of BTS’s most globally recognized members has previously faced similar incidents, including an attempted break-in at his residence last year.
In a related incident, another woman in her 30s from China was previously arrested in Seoul after attempting to enter Jungkook’s home shortly after his military discharge, underscoring a troubling pattern of repeated security breaches.
The latest ruling has renewed debate over fan boundaries and the increasing risks faced by global stars living under intense public scrutiny.
