KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) Karachi emerged as champion in the “Battle of Truth” Sepaktakraw Championship after defeating Hyderabad in an exciting final held at Graceful Grammar Higher Secondary School.
The championship was organised with the cooperation of the Pakistan Sepaktakraw Federation and featured participation from teams representing Karachi, Hyderabad, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Burma. According to organisers, the participating teams were comprised of students.
In the final, Karachi beat Hyderabad 15-17, 15-12 and 15-13 to clinch the title trophy after a closely contested match.
District sports Officer Hyderabad Maryam Kerrio and Mufti Furqan of Jamia Binoria distributed trophies and certificates among the players.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary of the Pakistan Sepaktakraw Federation Naushad Ahmed Khan said the sport was steadily gaining popularity in Pakistan.
He said a Sepaktakraw workshop and coaching course had recently been organised in Quetta by Muhammad Khalid, Urooj Naz and Sarwat.

Mufti Furqan expressed pleasure over the participation of students from different countries and announced efforts to promote the sport within madrasa institutions.
Maryam Kerrio said a national Sepaktakraw championship was expected to be organised in Hyderabad in August or October this year.
Chairman of the Sindh Sepaktakraw Association Dr Muhammad Arif Hafeez, Hyderabad Sepaktakraw Association President Din Muhammad Kerrio and Junaid Azeem of Jamia Binoria also addressed the ceremony.
Special awards were presented to Sarfaraz Rahman, Balaj Khan and Jamia Binoria player Abdul Rahman for their outstanding performances during the championship.
Organising Secretary Muhammad Saleem thanked all participating teams at the conclusion of the event.
