Kohat police foil arms smuggling attempt, arrest suspect in theft case

KOHAT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2026) Kohat police thwarted an arms smuggling bid and successfully traced a major theft case on Tuesday in separate operations carried out under the directives of District Police Officer Shahbaz Elahi.

According to police sources, the police team intercepted a suspicious vehicle during a highway checkpoint operation. Upon search, three M4 rifles were recovered from the possession of the suspect, identified as Arsalan Khan.

The weapons were reportedly being smuggled from Darra Adam Khel to Bannu. A case has been registered against the accused at MRS Police Station.

In another operation, Mills Area Police Station Police traced a burglary incident that had occurred a few days earlier in the jurisdiction of Kachi Banda.

Unknown culprits had broken into the residence of Advocate Syed Ghiasuddin Gilani during his absence and stolen two licensed rifles, a shotgun, a pistol, and imitation jewelry.

Acting promptly and the stolen arms and jewelry were recovered from his possession.

Police officials stated that operations against criminal elements would continue with full force to ensure the safety of citizens and the maintenance of law and order in the district.
