MANSEHRA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 6th May, 2026) Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, inaugurated and performed groundbreaking ceremonies for 12 major development projects in Mansehra district, with a total estimated cost exceeding Rs. 25 billion.
The initiatives were aimed at improving basic public facilities and accelerating the overall development of the region.
Among the key projects, the Rs. 18.5 billion Mansehra Gravity Flow Water Supply Scheme would stand out as a major step toward addressing water scarcity and ensuring a sustainable supply of clean drinking water to residents. In the health sector, a Rs. 2 billion Institute of Allied Health Sciences has been launched to enhance medical education and healthcare services, while the foundation stone of a Cath Lab has also been laid to improve cardiac care facilities in the area.
Infrastructure development included the Rs. 1.8 billion Achhar Nala Dam project, expected to contribute to water management and local irrigation needs. The upgradation of Thakra Stadium at a cost of Rs.
1 billion would set to promote sports activities and provide modern facilities to youth. Additionally, the Basic Health Unit (BHU) in Sandesar would be upgraded to improve Primary healthcare services.
Emergency services were being strengthened through the establishment of a Rescue Station in Pano Dheri, while the inauguration of a Degree College for Boys was aimed to expand access to higher education. Other community-focused projects included the provision of land for a graveyard, the development of Kotkay Park for recreational purposes, and improvements to the Mansehra Water Supply Scheme.
Furthermore, the establishment of Tehsil Tanawal has been announced, which was expected to enhance administrative efficiency and bring governance closer to the people.
Officials stated that these projects reflected the government’s commitment to balanced regional development and public welfare, adding that their timely completion would significantly uplift the socio-economic conditions of the area.
