PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Apr, 2026) The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced a major relief package for the public by introducing a one-month tax exemption for the transport sector, aimed at reducing fares and easing the burden of inflation.
The initiative, approved by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, includes the complete abolition of scheduled tax and stand tax for a period of one month.
According to official sources, transporters have been directed to ensure a mandatory reduction in fares so that the benefit is directly passed on to commuters.
To ensure strict implementation, a comprehensive monitoring mechanism has been put in place. Assistant Commissioners have been deployed in all districts with instructions to take action against overcharging.
Authorities have also made it mandatory for transporters to prominently display official fare lists on their vehicles to ensure transparency and prevent exploitation of passengers.
The government reiterated its commitment to providing relief to citizens and ensuring effective governance through timely measures.
