PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Apr, 2026) The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has sought reports from police stations in Peshawar regarding investigations into cases related to the May 9 riots.
According to officials, City Police Peshawar has directed five police stations including those in East, Faqirabad, and Khan Raziq areas to submit complete details regarding registered cases, arrested and nominated suspects, as well as absconders.
The stations have also been instructed to clarify the current status of each case and identify all individuals booked in connection with the incidents.
According to various reports, dozens of suspects in the May 9 cases are still at large, while separate investigations into multiple incidents remain underway.
These cases include serious charges such as attacks on Radio Pakistan, arson of vehicles on GT Road, assaults on banks, and damage to the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service.
It was further revealed that cases have also been registered against workers of a political party, along with some members of provincial and national assemblies. However, sources claim that certain key cases in Mardan have already been withdrawn.
Authorities maintain that the move aims to ensure accountability and bring all those involved to justice, as part of ongoing efforts to uphold law and order.
