PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) On the directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, a key meeting was held here on Thursday to review and enhance the international rankings of universities in the province.
The meeting took place in the Higher education Department’s committee room under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Higher Education, Meena Khan Afridi.
According to the spokesperson of the Higher Education Department, senior officials, including Secretary Higher Education Dr Muhammad Israr Khan, Special Secretary Sharif Hussain, Director Higher Education Dr Fareedullah Shah, Director Quality Assurance Dr Imranullah Marwat, and members of the minister’s advisory team attended the session.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on all performance indicators of international ranking systems, including QS and Times Higher Education.
The participants reviewed the current standing of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s universities in these global rankings.
The minister appreciated the efforts of the team and stated that the provincial government would fully support 5 to 10 top universities included in QS and Times Higher Education rankings.
He added that the Higher Education Department would ensure strict compliance with all relevant guidelines and would carry out follow-ups with institutions to improve their performance and global standing.
