KP Govt to declare July as ‘Summer Learning and Grooming Festival’

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Apr, 2026) KP Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Arshad Ayub Khan has stated that a unique and transformative program would be launched in July to promote the mental, physical, and moral development of students enrolled in both public and private educational institutions across the province.

Under this initiative, the period from July 1 to July 31 will be observed as the “Summer Learning and Grooming Festival” throughout the province, he said while chairing a meeting here Thursday regarding the summer camp initiative. The meeting was attended by Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education Muhammad Khalid, Special Secretary Iftikhar Ali Khan, and other officials. Detailed deliberations were held regarding the organization and execution of the summer camps starting from July 1.

This initiative reflects the special directives of the provincial minister and his commitment to develop a modern, capable, and confident youth.

The minister described the Summer Camp Festival as a significant milestone in promoting character building, national cohesion and positive engagement among students. He directed the relevant authorities to develop a comprehensive strategy for the program, including a security plan, parental consent mechanisms, transportation, accommodation and a well-coordinated system of training activities to ensure that students are provided with a safe, purposeful, and memorable experience.

The provincial minister further stated that students from summer-zone schools would be taken to winter-zone educational institutions and northern districts for educational and recreational activities, where host schools would receive them.

Students from Grade 6 to Grade 12 will participate in different batches under the supervision of their teachers and with parental consent. Each school will be allocated a specific quota to ensure maximum student participation. The government will provide transportation, accommodation, meals, and other essential facilities for the students, he said. He added that the government was taking serious measures to provide students with practical training alongside academic education, enhancing self-confidence, creativity, and a healthy environment.

The minister emphasized that the month of July would be transformed into a period of joy, learning and skill development for children across the province. The Summer Camp initiative is part of the ongoing educational reforms in the province and is expected to lay the foundation for a bright future for the younger generation, he said and added, during the summer camps, a wide range of co-curricular and extracurricular activities will be organized, including IT boot camps, leadership training, speech competitions, sports events, environmental awareness programs, tree plantation campaigns, study tours and visits to northern areas.

According to the Education Department, the objective of this initiative is to foster confidence, discipline, teamwork, patriotism, intercultural harmony, and modern skills among students, enabling them to become responsible citizens in the future.
