KP tourism authority launches safety awareness campaign for tourists

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) has launched a tourist safety awareness campaign across Abbottabad to promote responsible tourism and prevent accidents at popular recreational sites during the ongoing monsoon season

ABBOTTABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jul, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) has launched a tourist safety awareness campaign across Abbottabad to promote responsible tourism and prevent accidents at popular recreational sites during the ongoing monsoon season.

The campaign was formally inaugurated at the Abbottabad Interchange on the Hazara Motorway in collaboration with the Tourism Police. As part of the initiative, awareness teams visited Harno, Azizabad, Nathia Gali and other tourist destinations, where they distributed safety pamphlets and briefed visitors on precautionary measures.

Tourists were advised not to leave children unattended near rivers, lakes and streams, avoid entering deep water or approaching riverbanks unnecessarily, and exercise caution while travelling during rain and adverse weather conditions.

The teams also highlighted the risks of landslides and urged visitors to stay informed about weather updates.

The authority further advised tourists to wear life jackets while boating, refrain from driving vehicles into streams and nullahs, and immediately contact the Tourist Helpline 1422 or the Tourism Police Helpline 911 in case of any emergency.

According to the KP Culture and Tourism Authority, the campaign is aimed at promoting responsible tourism, enhancing public awareness of safety measures, and ensuring the protection of visitors while they enjoy the province's scenic attractions.
