RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) Authorities have intensified inspections of industrial and commercial units in Rawalpindi to enforce workplace safety and wage regulations ahead of Labour Day, officials said on Thursday.
Director Labour Welfare Rawalpindi Division, Ghulam Shabbir Kalyar said officials were conducting regular inspections under the Punjab Occupational Safety and Health Act 2019 to ensure compliance with safety standards.
He said employers were being directed to provide protective equipment and promote a safety culture at workplaces, adding that legal action had been taken against units found violating regulations.
The official said monitoring was also underway to ensure implementation of notified wage rates, while teams were actively working to curb child labour, with cases registered against violators.
He added that welfare measures, including financial assistance for workers’ families, educational scholarships and death grants, were being implemented to support labourers.
