Lahore marks 75 years of Pak-China diplomatic relations

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) A dignified flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Lahore Town Hall on Thursday to commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations and enduring friendship between Pakistan and China.

Commissioner Lahore Maryam Khan and Deputy Commissioner Lahore Cap. (R) Ali Ijaz jointly hoisted the flags of Pakistan and China during the ceremony.

The national flags of both countries were raised while the national anthems of Pakistan and China echoed through the atmosphere, adding to the spirit of the occasion.

A large number of citizens participated in the ceremony and expressed their joy by waving the flags of Pakistan and China to celebrate the longstanding friendship between the two countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Maryam Khan said the 75-year relationship between Pakistan and China was based on mutual trust and respect. She remarked that Pak-China friendship was “higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the oceans,” reflecting the strength and sincerity of bilateral ties.

Deputy Commissioner Ali Ijaz said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a historic project aimed at transforming the destiny of the region. He added that modern infrastructure development under CPEC projects was continuing in Lahore, contributing to the city’s progress and economic growth.
