FAISALABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2026) Laser land levelers were distributed among the farmers in Faisalabad through a transparent balloting process under a government subsidy scheme, as part of ongoing initiatives to promote modern agriculture and water conservation across Punjab.
The balloting ceremony for allocation of laser land leveling units was held at the library hall of Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI) where Additional Deputy Commissioner General Anwar Ali Kanju supervised the process as representative of the chairman of District Allocation Committee.
Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Arif Mahmood Gill, Director Agriculture (On-Farm Water Management) Faisalabad Division Asim Rafiq, Deputy Director Agriculture Water Management Sarmad Rashid, Assistant Director Water Management Dr Muhammad Naeem, along with other officials and a large number of farmers, attended the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, MPA Arif Mahmood Gill appreciated the farmer-friendly policies of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz and said that the provincial government was taking practical steps for the promotion of agriculture and prosperity of farmers.
He said that projects like laser land leveling were proving highly effective in improving land quality, conserving water, and increasing per-acre yield. He said that the technology was playing vital role in promoting modern agricultural practices, reducing production costs, and ensuring efficient water use in the context of climate change.
Director Agriculture Asim Rafiq said that 43 laser land leveling units were being provided on subsidy for Faisalabad district.
Out of 336 applications received, 269 eligible farmers were selected through a transparent balloting process for allocation of the units, he added. He further said that the balloting was conducted by keeping in view the tehsil-wise quota to ensure fair distribution of laser land levelers among the farmers.
The Punjab government was implementing a broader program across various districts involving the improvement and lining of 1,400 watercourses at a cost of Rs7 billion while 1,000 laser land levelers were being provided on subsidy to enhance irrigation efficiency and agricultural productivity, he added.
