MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th May, 2026) Renowned intellectual and journalist Khalid Hameed Farooqi , on Monday was remembered with rich tributes at the “Khalid Hameed Farooqi Memorial Festival” held in Brussels, where speakers highlighted his lifelong struggle for truth, justice, and human rights.

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the Kashmir Council Europe, Ali Raza Syed, said intellectuals like Farooqi played a vital role in raising awareness about human rights through knowledge and wisdom. He described the late journalist’s life as dedicated to advocating for oppressed communities and promoting justice.

The event, jointly organized by the Pakistan Press Club Belgium and Kashmir Council Europe, was attended by intellectuals, writers, poets, and members of political and social circles from across Europe, including Belgium, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Tahira Habib Jalib, daughter of revolutionary poet Habib Jalib, also attended as a special guest.

Speakers paid tribute to Farooqi’s integrity, courage, and his role in highlighting the Kashmir issue in Europe. A book launch by writer Safdar Zaidi and a poetry session were also part of the festival. The Life Achievement Award was presented to Mujahid Hussain, received on his behalf by Uneeb Rashid. The event also featured a documentary on Farooqi, video messages from family members, and performances, concluding with a tribute-filled poetry session by prominent poets.
