Late-night rain and hail in Karachi, will it rain again today?

Partly cloudy conditions expected as weakening westerly wave moves on, multiple areas report overnight showers.

Karachi: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has indicated that no significant spell of heavy rainfall is anticipated in Karachi today however light showers and intermittent drizzle may occur in isolated pockets of the city.

According to the department prevailing weather conditions are expected to remain partly cloudy with sporadic precipitation likely in select areas.

Officials further noted that the intensity of the current weather system remains limited as the westerly wave is gradually advancing towards the southeastern region. This system is projected to continue influencing various parts of the country until April 4.

Meanwhile rainfall activity persisted late into the night across multiple areas of the metropolis with isolated incidents of hail also reported.

Precipitation was recorded in several localities including the airport vicinity, Shah Faisal Colony, Malir, Gulistan-e-Johar, Liaquatabad, New Karachi, Jahangir Road, Gurumandir, University Road, Northern Bypass, Garden, Surjani Town, and Orangi Town.

Additionally power supply disruptions were observed in certain areas. In a tragic development, one individual lost their life due to electrocution in Gulistan-e-Johar, raising the total number of rain-related fatalities over the past two days to seven.
