LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jun, 2026) Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) delegation led by its President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol called on Lahore Deputy Commissioner (DC) Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Ali Ijaz to discuss the growing concerns of business community regarding recent enforcement actions and relocation notices issued to industries and sealing of bus body maker workshops.
The LCCI delegation included Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh, former president Mian Anjum Nisar, Executive Committee Member Shouban Akhtar and representatives of the Bus Body Makers Association, the LCCI spokesman told media here Monday. The meeting focused on the serious difficulties being faced by industrial units and particularly the bus body manufacturing sector operating on Bund Road.
LCCI President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol expressed concern over the notices being issued by Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), directing industries to relocate and sealing of the workshops by Transport department. He said that these actions have created uncertainty among investors and industrialists, while the sealing of bus body manufacturing workshops on Bund Road has further aggravated the situation.
The LCCI President said that bus body manufacturing sector is an important segment of the economy, providing employment to thousands of skilled and unskilled workers and contributing significantly to economic activity.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He emphasized that sudden closures and relocation measures without adequate consultation with stakeholders could disrupt businesses, affect livelihoods and discourage investment.
Saigol stressed that industrial growth, environmental protection and urban planning should go hand in hand and a balanced approach should be adopted to ensure that economic activities are not affected. He urged the authorities to engage business community and evolve practical and workable solutions which would safeguard industry, employment and investment.
Former LCCI president Mian Anjum Nisar and Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh also highlighted the concerns of the affected entrepreneurs and called for meaningful consultations with stakeholders before taking any coercive measures.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Ali Ijaz appreciated the constructive role being played by Lahore Chamber and assured the delegation that the concerns of the business community would be given due consideration. He said, the district administration would take up the matter with the relevant departments and all efforts would be made to resolve the issues through consultation and mutual understanding.
He remarked that government believes in facilitating economic activity and assured the delegation that the administration would work closely with the business community to find an amicable and sustainable solution to the issues faced by industrial units and bus body manufacturers.
