Magnificent Punjab Tourism and Investment expo concludes

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st May, 2026) The two-day “Magnificent Punjab Tourism and Investment Expo 2026,” organized by the Punjab Tourism department has successfully concluded on Friday.

Senior Provincial Minister of Punjab, Marriyum Aurangzeb attended the closing ceremony as the chief guest and addressed the audience, said a handout issued here.

Addressing the ceremony she stated that this was Pakistan and Punjab’s first comprehensive expo based on tourism trails, which had played a significant role in introducing the province as a global tourist destination. She added that the first-ever investment tourism expo in Punjab’s history reflected the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who, for the first time, presented tourism in the form of structured tourism trails rather than site-specific attractions.

She further explained that the expo featured adventure, green tourism, hospitality, museum and religious trails, while heritage, historical, archaeological, eco and wildlife tourism were integrated with experiential tourism. She said, "This initiative has created new opportunities not only for domestic but also for international tourists."

Senior minister shared that all tourist destinations, trails and experiences had been incorporated into the “Magnificent Punjab” app and encouraged the public to download it, as it provided a complete ecosystem of Punjab tourism.

She also highlighted that the establishment of the Punjab Tourism Authority was a major step forward for stakeholders and all tourist sites would be operated under public-private partnerships.

She expressed her commitment that this expo marked the beginning of a joint journey with the private sector and that Punjab and Pakistan would be showcased globally in a strong manner. She said, "Lahore being declared a tourist capital/destination by SCO and ECO is a significant honor."

During the closing ceremony, Marriyum Aurangzeb distributed 30 awards and 11 certificates of appreciation among officers and individuals who demonstrated outstanding performance, and conveyed congratulations to all award recipients on behalf of the Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

The expo highlighted several important tourist destinations, including Taxila, Harappa, Moj Garh, Derawar Fort, Lahore Museum, Khewra, Kotli Sattian, Kallar Kahar, Jallo, Changa Manga and Kot Addu. A large number of international and national tourism companies, university students and youth from Punjab participated in the event.
