Man dies, woman survives in alleged 'honour'-related attack in Taxila; four suspects arrested

WAH CANTT, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jul, 2026) A man died and his wife survived following an alleged "honour"-related attack in Taxila, where police arrested four suspects after they allegedly opened fire on officers responding to an emergency call, police said on Saturday.

Police said officers rushed to the scene after receiving a 15 emergency helpline call and found the husband and wife in a semi-conscious condition. Both were shifted to a nearby hospital, where the husband, identified as Afzal, later died during treatment. Police said the exact cause of death would be determined after a post-mortem examination, while the woman remains under medical care.

According to police, the suspects allegedly opened fire in an attempt to evade arrest as officers arrived at the scene.

Police returned fire, arrested four suspects—including one who was injured during the exchange—and recovered weapons from their possession. A case is being registered, and investigators are collecting evidence to determine the full circumstances of the incident.

Police said preliminary findings indicate that the couple was allegedly forced to consume a poisonous substance in the name of "honour." The investigation remains ongoing, and the allegations are based on the initial police inquiry. The arrested suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
