Man receives burns in suicide attempt

MULTAN, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) A person sustained critical burn injuries in a suspected suicide attempt after setting himself ablaze inside a room of his house in Iqra Town near MIKD Hospital Muzaffargarh road, on Wednesday.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, the emergency control room received a call about a fire inside a residential room in Iqra town. Rescue fire and medical teams were immediately dispatched to the scene. The rescue vehicle reached the site and initiated emergency operation. A total of three emergency vehicles and rescue teams participated in the operation.

A person identified as 35 years old Sajid, s/o Liaqat Ali, allegedly locked himself inside the room and set himself ablaze after becoming distressed due to domestic issues.

Family members and local residents managed to pull him out of the burning room before the arrival of rescue teams.

The Rescue 1122 medical team provided first aid and shifted the burnt victim to Nishtar Hospital in critical condition.

Rescue firefighters brought the fire under control within five minutes and completed cooling operations, preventing further damage. The blaze damaged household items including a sofa set, a charpai, and a refrigerator.

Police were informed about the incident which launched investigations from different angles.
