ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan has emerged as a responsible and resilient nation capable of defending its sovereignty and contributing to global peace, as he addressed the nation on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq.

In his message, the prime minister described the anniversary as a day of gratitude to Almighty Allah and a tribute to the courage, determination and steadfastness demonstrated by the Pakistani nation during a time of trial.

He paid homage to the country’s martyrs, their families and the injured servicemen, saying the coordinated response of Pakistan’s armed forces across land, sea, air and cyber domains had established Pakistan as an unconquerable force.

Prime Minister Shehbaz praised Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir for his courageous leadership, and also commended Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and Admiral Naveed Ashraf for their strategic roles.

He said Marka-e-Haq had become a defining chapter in the country’s history, demonstrating that Pakistan is a peace-loving yet courageous nation that cannot be intimidated or forced to compromise on its sovereignty.

The prime minister warned that any attempt to weaken Pakistan or launch aggression against it would be met with an immediate, effective and comprehensive response.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to eliminating terrorism, including what he referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij” and “Fitna al-Hindustan.”

On the issue of Kashmir, Prime Minister Shehbaz said lasting strategic stability in South Asia would remain elusive until the dispute is resolved in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

He also noted that Pakistan is increasingly being recognized as a responsible state with strong defensive capabilities and a constructive role in promoting international peace.

The prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to help de-escalate tensions between the United States and Iran, saying the country’s role as a mediator has received international appreciation.

He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to continuing its efforts for the peaceful resolution of regional and global conflicts.
