HYDERABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2026) Deputy Commissioner Matiari Muhammad Danish Zakir has said that all government departments must work with close coordination, effective collaboration and teamwork to ensure the provision of the best possible public services. He directed all relevant departments to complete advance preparations to effectively respond to any emergency during the monsoon season and to fulfill their assigned responsibilities within the stipulated time for the 283rd annual urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA) so that devotees and visitors receive every possible facility.
According to a handout issued on Wednesday, he expressed these views while chairing an introductory meeting of all district departments held at DC secretariat Matiari. The meeting aimed to introduce departmental heads, review their responsibilities and public service delivery, and comprehensively assess preparations for the 283rd annual urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA) and the 2026 monsoon season.
On the occasion, SSP Matiari Abdul Aleem Bullo presented a detailed contingency plan regarding the overall law and order situation in the district and security measures for the sain'ts urs. Briefing the participants, he said that a comprehensive security strategy had been formulated to ensure the safety and security of devotees. Under the plan, the police, special branch and other law enforcement agencies will perform their duties in close coordination. He further informed the meeting that special measures were being taken for monitoring entry and exit points, securing sensitive locations, traffic management, emergency response and maintaining law and order, while police patrolling and surveillance across the district had also been strengthened.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Danish Zakir received detailed briefings from the heads of various departments regarding their performance, ongoing development schemes, public service delivery, challenges, contingency planning and future course of action. He directed all departments to strengthen mutual coordination, ensure prompt and effective resolution of public issues and prioritize transparency, accountability and timely implementation of government affairs.
Assistant Commissioner Hala Dr. Mazahir informed the meeting that the urs management plan had been divided into three phases, while a total of six sectors had been established to ensure that information reaches the relevant department within two minutes in the event of any emergency.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>He further stated that the motorway, traffic police, rescue 1122 and ambulance services will remain deployed on the national highway throughout the event.
Representatives of the culture department informed the meeting that cultural activities would commence before the urs, while literary, cultural and musical events would be organized throughout the three-day celebrations. District sports Officer Jaleel Halepoto briefed the meeting that a traditional Malakhra wrestling competition would be held for three days, with approximately 400 wrestlers participating. The forest department also informed the meeting that a tree plantation campaign would be carried out during the event, with saplings to be planted at various locations.
The deputy commissioner expressed displeasure over those departments that had not yet submitted their contingency plans and directed them to complete their emergency planning immediately and submit their reports without delay so that any possible emergency could be handled effectively.
Reviewing preparations for the 2026 monsoon season, the deputy commissioner directed the concerned departments to ensure complete readiness regarding drainage of rainwater from low-lying areas, improvement of the drainage system, availability of emergency machinery, rescue operations, electricity supply, municipal services, traffic management, road infrastructure and other essential services so that the public does not face any inconvenience.
DHO Dr. Zahid informed the meeting that the health department, PPHI and rescue 1122 would work in close coordination. During the Urs, 13 ambulances, 20 doctors and free medicines would be made available to provide timely medical facilities to devotees.
The representative of the food department informed the meeting that hotels and food outlets would be inspected daily during the urs to prevent the sale of substandard and unhygienic food items.
HESCO Executive Engineer Farooq Tanio informed the meeting that there would be no load-shedding on the Bhit Shah express feeder during the urs, while a transformer trolley would also remain on standby to ensure the immediate restoration of electricity in case of any technical fault.
Concluding the meeting, the deputy commissioner Muhammad Danish Zakir directed all departments to perform their responsibilities with complete coordination. The meeting was attended by officers of all relevant departments of district Matiari.
