Sargodha clinches inter-district handball championship title

SARGODHA, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Jul, 2026) Hosts Sargodha emerged victorious in the Inter-District Handball Championship after defeating Bhakkar 20-13 in a one-sided final played at the Sports Gymnasium on Friday.

The championship,organised by the Divisional Handball Association in collaboration with the District Sports Department,brought together teams from Sargodha,Bhakkar,Khushab and Mianwali with participants displaying competitive spirit throughout the tournament.

Divisional Sports Officer,Rana Nadeem Anjum and District Sports Officer,Saima Manzoor inaugurated the event, stressing the importance of promoting competitive sports and encouraging youth participation.

Sargodha maintained control of the final from the outset,comfortably overcoming Bhakkar to secure the divisional title with a 20-13 victory.

Trophies and prizes were distributed among the winners by Sargodha travel and Tour Association Chairman and Duniya Aviation (Pvt) Ltd Director Malik Umar Farooq,along with HK Builders' Hizbullah Khan Khattak,during the closing ceremony.

Addressing the participants,Farooq said sports were essential for fostering a healthy society and steering young people towards positive activities,adding that he remained committed to supporting the development of sports at the regional level.

Divisional Handball Association General Secretary Asif Hayat Balouch thanked the divisional and district sports authorities for facilitating the successful conduct of the championship and reaffirmed the association's commitment to organizing more competitive events for local athletes.
