Muqam announces compensation for gas pipeline explosion victims

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Apr, 2026) Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, and President of PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Amir Muqam here Saturday visited the site of the tragic gas pipeline explosion near Hattar Industrial Estate in Haripur and announced financial assistance for the families of the deceased.

The Federal Minister said that, on the directions of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, each bereaved family will be given 1 million rupees, while the injured will receive 500,000 rupees as compensation.

During the visit, Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam conducted a detailed inspection of the affected area and received a briefing from the authorities at the spot.

Later, he visited the homes of the deceased, met with their families, expressed condolences, and offered prayers (Fatiha).

He also prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the deceased and for the speedy recovery of the injured.

On this occasion, Member of National Assembly Babar Nawaz Khan and other notable figures were also present.

Engineer Amir Muqam expressed deep sorrow and grief over the incident, adding that the federal government stands with the bereaved families in their time of sorrow.

The Federal Minister ordered an immediate and transparent investigation into this unfortunate incident and directed the relevant authorities to determine the causes of the accident and submit a report promptly so that action can be taken against those responsible.

He also condemned the incident of violence against a police officer during the rescue operation, stating that he has already spoken to the Inspector General and strict action will be taken.
