MIRPUR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th Apr, 2026) The Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) has earned a place in the prestigious Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2026, becoming the only university from Azad Jammu and Kashmir to be featured among 1,405 institutions across Asia. The ranking included 99 universities from Pakistan and assessed performance across key indicators such as teaching, research, industry engagement and international outlook.
According to official sources, MUST demonstrated strong performance nationally, securing 46th position in teaching, 42nd in research environment, 43rd in research quality, 39th in industry engagement and an impressive 32nd in international outlook. These rankings reflect the university’s steady academic progress, growing research capacity and increasing collaboration with industry and global partners.
A spokesperson said the university’s high standing in international outlook highlights its expanding global footprint through faculty exchanges, joint research initiatives and academic partnerships. Similarly, its performance in industry engagement underscores efforts to promote applied research and innovation aligned with market needs.
Vice Chancellor Muhammad Younus Javed congratulated the university community on the achievement and praised the role of the Quality Enhancement Cell, particularly Director Khuram Pervez Amber and his team, for strengthening institutional standards. The recognition reinforces MUST’s position as a leading center of higher education and supports Pakistan’s broader goal of advancing quality education in line with global benchmarks and sustainable development objectives.
