NAB hands over recovered assets worth Rs 2.6 billion to Sindh Govt

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Apr, 2026) The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) handed over recovered Assets worth Rs. 2.6 Billion to Sindh Government in a handing over ceremony held here at Sindh Secretariat on Thursday.

The Deputy Chairman NAB Sohail Nasir handed over the Assets of the Government of Sindh including Moveable & Immovable Properties, Mango, Lemon orchards, Agricultural Fields, Pay order and National Saving Certificates of Pakistan, and Looted Money to Chief Secretary of Sindh Asif Hyder Shah. The ceremony was attended by Syed Ihtesham Qadir Shah, Prosecutor General NAB, Director General NAB Karachi Shakeel Ahmed Durrani (PSP), and other distinguished Officers of NAB and Govt. of Sindh. The ceremony was focused on the expeditious recovery of assets and restoration of state land to Govt. of Sindh in high-profile corruption cases.

In welcome speech Deputy Chairman NAB highlighted that NAB (Karachi) has successfully pursued Reference No.02/2023 (State Vs Mushtaque Ahmed Shaikh and others) pending before the Accountability Court-I Hyderabad. Wherein substantial recoveries have been effected through the lawful process of plea bargain under the provision of the NAO-1999. In which the acceptance of plea bargain by the competent Authority, followed by its approval by the Court, has resulted in the recovery of significant monetary amounts as well as valuable immovable properties, including agricultural lands comprising mango and lemon orchards, and financial instruments such as pay orders and National Saving Certificates.

He further stated that as a direct consequences of NAB’s sustained efforts, eight (08) accused persons voluntarily opted for plea bargain under section 25(b) of NAO-1999, and agreed to surrender their respective share of liability amounting to Rs.901,820,227/-. The recovered assets comprised substantial monetary payments as well as valuable immoveable properties, including agricultural lands situated in various districts of Sindh consisting of mango and lemon orchards, along with financial instruments such as pay orders and national savings certificates. The current market value of the surrendered properties and assets is estimated to be more than Rs2.265 billion, reflecting the substantial nature of recovery made in the instant case.

He further said that this land mark recovery not only reinforces NAB’s commitment to accountability and transparency but also ensure that the looted public funds and assets are restored for the benefits of the State land public at large.

Chief Secretary of Sindh Asif Hyder Shah appreciated the efforts of NAB and assured his firm cooperation and support in this prestigious National cause.
