PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jun, 2026) The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has directed relevant departments to accelerate the repatriation process of Afghan refugees residing illegally in Pakistan.
Authorities have been instructed to complete the necessary actions within 30 to 45 days and submit detailed progress reports.
According to Special Assistant Tariq Saeed on Wednesday, all institutions concerned have been given a target of 40 to 45 days to complete the process.
The repatriation of Afghan nationals will be carried out in an organized and lawful manner, with regular monitoring of progress.
Officials stated that temporary camps for Afghan refugees are currently operating in Peshawar, Charsadda, Kohat and Hangu.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Sources said that work is ongoing on various pending cases related to visas and residency. Legal and administrative requirements are being fulfilled, while deputy commissioners, police and Special Branch officials have been issued clear instructions to facilitate the process.
Government sources emphasized that the return of Afghan refugees will be conducted in a dignified, organized and lawful manner to prevent any disorder or humanitarian concerns.
Special Assistant Tariq Saeed added that a follow-up meeting to review progress will be held after Muharram.
