While speaking to ptv news, Shahneela Tariq emphasized that the purpose of observing the International Day
of Human Space Flight is to recognize and celebrate the vital role of space science and technology. She highlighted how these advancements contribute significantly to global progress and innovation.
She further explained that space science played a crucial part in achieving sustainable development goals, helping nations address challenges in areas such as energy, environment, communication and education, ultimately benefiting humanity as a whole.
She explained that the United Nations observes 12th April as the International Day of Human Spaceflight to mark Yuri Gagarin’ s historic first journey into space in 1961.
Talking about Pakistan' technology and innovations, Shahneela Tariq says SUPARCO has announced that Pakistan was aiming for a historic Moon landing in 2026, marking a significant milestone in the country’s space exploration journey.
She added that this mission would showcase Pakistan’s growing capabilities in space science and technology, while continuing to drive innovations that support sustainable development and strengthen the nation’s role in the global space community.
She also praised NASA astronauts for their return to the Moon after five decades, describing it as a testament to human bravery and a landmark in technological achievement.
