Over 2,500 police personnel deployed in Karachi for Chaand Raat security

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Mar, 2026) Extensive security arrangements have been put in place across Karachi on the eve of Chaand Raat, following special directives issued by Additional IGP Karachi Azad Khan.

According to a police spokesperson on Thursday, a total of 2,544 officers and personnel of Sindh Police have been deployed at major shopping malls, markets and public places across the city.

The deployment includes 1,011 personnel in South Zone, 592 in East Zone and 941 in West Zone, while lady police officers have also been deployed to facilitate women shoppers.

Officials said mobile and motorcycle patrolling had been increased at key locations, while strict monitoring was being carried out at entry and exit points through surveillance and CCTV cameras.

Police officers have been directed to deal with citizens in a courteous manner and ensure prompt response to any emergency, in order to provide a safe and peaceful environment during the festivities.
