QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Apr, 2026) Senior Medical Officer of Layton Rehmatulla Benevolent Trust (LRBT) Dr. Aziz Memon, on Thursday said that the LRBT was providing free and quality treatment to the poor and deserving patients suffering from eye diseases across the country, including Balochistan, where hundreds of patients are benefiting on a daily basis.
Talking to APP, he said that about 400 eye patients were being examined and treated free of cost in LRBT every day, while the number of patients increased during summer.
He said that a large number among patients were women, with about 60 percent were mothers who come for treatment with their young children.
Dr. Aziz Memon said that more than 30 eye operations (surgeries) were also performed in the institution on a daily basis, while more than 50 diabetic patients were regularly examined and treated so that timely prevention of eye damage due to sugar is possible. He further said that all departments related to eye diseases are fully functional in LRBT, where detailed eye examination, laboratory tests and other necessary medical facilities are being provided through modern machinery.
He said that the trained and professional staff of the institution was always engaged in serving the patients coming from the remote areas of Balochistan including Quetta, the provincial capital.
Responding to a question, Dr. Aziz Memon appealed to philanthropists and donors to extend their cooperation with LRBT to provide free treatment to as many deserving people as possible.
He said that the support of philanthropists was the real strength of this institution, thanks to which millions of people were saved from losing the blessing of sight.
He reiterated his commitment that LRBT would continue its efforts to serve the people of Balochistan and steps could be taken to further improve the health sector, so that every deserving patient would get timely and quality treatment.
