ATTOCK, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th May, 2026) More than Rs1 billion is being spent on the repair and rehabilitation of 133 kilometres of roads in Attock district, aimed at improving travel facilities for thousands of residents, including farmers, students, traders and patients.
Talking to APP on Wednesday, Executive Engineer Highways Attock Muhammad Saqib said work on six major roads in the district was currently underway.
He said three roads had already been completed, while work on the remaining three was progressing rapidly and would be completed within the stipulated time-frame.
Highlighting the government’s vision of “Better Roads, Better Lives,” Muhammad Saqib said the projects would improve access of villages to markets, facilitate students in reaching educational institutions and help patients travel more easily to hospitals.
He said the 47.2-kilometre Attock-Mithial Road was being rehabilitated at a cost of Rs369.527 million. The road links Attock city with Mithial and dozens of surrounding villages.
Similarly, the 40-kilometre Attock-Fateh Jang Road was being reconstructed at a cost of Rs482.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>344 million. The road is considered one of the busiest routes in the district and connects Attock with Fateh Jang and several nearby villages.
The executive engineer further said the 16.2-kilometre Sojhanda-Ghora Mar Road was being rehabilitated at a cost of Rs189.976 million, while the 12.75-kilometre Gondal-Hazro Road was under construction at a cost of Rs226.447 million.
He added that the 10.5-kilometre Kot Fateh Khan to Shahrah-e-Chiragh Road had already been completed at a cost of Rs69.755 million.
Likewise, the 6.5-kilometre Teen Meela-Haji Shah Road, completed at a cost of Rs184.661 million, was also proving important for the local population.
Muhammad Saqib said all under-construction roads would be completed within the prescribed period, adding that no compromise would be made on the quality of work and strict monitoring was being carried out at every stage.
He further said contractors had been directed to ensure smooth traffic flow during construction work to minimize inconvenience to the public.
