MOSCOW, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Apr, 2026) Ambassador of Pakistan to Moscow Faisal Niaz Tirmizi said on Friday that Pakistan had asked Russia to influence Israel to help resolve the ongoing military conflict in the middle East as the channels between Moscow and Islamabad have always remained open.
The ambassador, in an interview with a Russian television channel, he said that through these channels, Pakistan conveyed to Russia that the consequences of a war with Iran would be dire for Israel itself.
To a question, he said that both Iranian and American delegations would arrive in Islamabad for negotiations and clarified that the representatives of Iran had not changed their minds about coming for talks with the US.
"No, no, they are arriving. Both Iranian and American delegations will arrive in Pakistan," he stated.
Ambassador Tirmizi added that Tehran had expressed concern regarding the security of its delegation members, and Pakistan had conveyed this concern to the United States.
"Indeed, the Iranians expressed their concern. They said that the last two times they had intense negotiations, unfortunately, Iran was subject to attacks, and, unfortunately, the negotiators who participated in the process were killed as a result of these attacks. So Iran had a concern, and we conveyed it to the US," he stated.
"As diplomats, we must ensure that the negotiators participating in the process observe international norms of diplomacy.
So, according to my data, both sides will come," the ambassador said.
Ambassador Tirmizi also confirmed that the Iranian delegation would be led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
On the American side, US Vice President JD Vance, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will participate in the negotiations.
To a question, he said that Pakistan was already a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) but unfortunately, there was an objection from one country that did not want Pakistan to join the BRICS.
He said that Pakistan's diplomatic and political authority had grown significantly over the past few years thanks to its role as a peacemaker and the country's role in resolving conflicts through negotiations.
He added that China, Brazil and South Africa wanted Pakistan to become part of BRICS, but India does not.
"I hope the Indian government will reconsider Pakistan's candidacy, because Pakistan possesses enormous middle-power strength, as it has become in recent years. Pakistan has political and military might, and now also considerable diplomatic influence. Therefore, if Pakistan becomes part of the group, everyone, including India, will benefit," the ambassador concluded.
