Pakistan’s role in Iran-US ceasefire enhances global standing: Hanif Gohar

ABBOTTABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 12th Apr, 2026) Former Senior Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Hanif Gohar, on Sunday said that Pakistan’s efforts in facilitating negotiations for a ceasefire between the United States and Iran have elevated the global stature of the country.

Talking to media representatives in Mansehra, he said that the role played by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir was being widely appreciated across the world. He noted that the ongoing conflict and rising inflation had created serious challenges for both the business community and the general public.

Hanif Gohar stated that the sincere and effective efforts of the country’s leadership in achieving the ceasefire deserved global recognition, adding that such contributions merit consideration for prestigious international honors.

He further highlighted that the recent reduction in petroleum prices has provided much-needed relief to the masses. He credited the government for taking timely measures to ease the burden on citizens.

He maintained that Pakistan’s active and effective mediation helped avert a major global crisis, which in turn has started to bring down energy prices internationally. Expressing optimism, he said that further reductions in petroleum prices were expected following the ceasefire, and the government was likely to extend additional relief to the public.
