ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th May, 2026) Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (SA) to Pakistan Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki on Thursday discussed matters of mutual interest and agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
During the meeting, the minister expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its continued support in meeting Pakistan’s energy requirements.
He particularly acknowledged the special treatment accorded to Pakistan in petroleum supplies, which has significantly contributed to addressing the country’s energy needs during the current challenging times.
Both sides reviewed ongoing collaboration in the petroleum sector and exchanged views on enhancing long-term energy cooperation.
The Saudi ambassador reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Pakistan in addressing its energy security challenges and assured continued cooperation in this regard.
It was also noted that recent technical-level engagements between the two countries were making positive headway towards long-term cooperation. Both sides are also working closely to explore various refinery upgradation and investment projects.
The Ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace and regional stability and acknowledged the country’s continued efforts to foster stability in the region.
The minister reiterated Pakistan’s desire to further deepen its strategic energy partnership with Saudi Arabia, particularly with Aramco, and appreciated the Kingdom’s longstanding support and cooperation.
Ali Pervaiz Malik said the government of Pakistan is working to fulfil the energy needs of the people and that Saudi support in this regard is highly valued.
