RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Apr, 2026) Archbishop of Rawalpindi-Islamabad, Joseph Arshad on Friday lauded the role of Pakistan’s leadership in facilitating ceasefire efforts amid recent tensions involving the United States, Iran and Israel, saying their contributions were a matter of pride for the entire region.

Addressing a Catholic Christian seminar on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace, the Archbishop paid tribute to the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for their constructive role in advancing dialogue and supporting initiatives aimed at de-escalation.

He said Pakistan demonstrated a responsible and effective diplomatic role during the recent crisis and made sincere efforts to promote peace and stability in the region, adding that the country’s initiatives in mediation and dialogue reflected its commitment to global harmony.

Highlighting the devastating consequences of war and conflict, Archbishop Arshad urged world leaders to resolve disputes through wisdom, restraint and dialogue, stressing that sustainable peace required tolerance, mutual understanding and respect among nations.

He expressed confidence that Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic engagement could become a significant milestone not only for regional stability but also for broader global peace efforts.

Referring to an appeal by Pope Leo XIV, he said special prayers for peace would be offered worldwide during the vigil of the Feast of Divine Mercy on April 11. He encouraged people of all faiths to participate in the initiative and pray for peace and the well-being of humanity.

Concluding his address, the Archbishop prayed for Pakistan and the entire world, asking Almighty God to protect humanity from conflict and grant success to efforts aimed at promoting harmony, justice and lasting peace.
