An Israeli drone took journalist’s life while he was performing his duties, the international media report

GAZA: (UrduPoint/UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News-April 9th, 2026) A journalist associated with Al Jazeera, Muhammad Wushah, was killed in an Israeli drone strike while travelling in Gaza, according to international media reports.

The incident took place on Wednesday when Muhammad Wushah was travelling in a vehicle along Al-Rashid Street, a coastal road west of Gaza City. The strike caused the vehicle to catch fire, resulting in his death at the scene.

Al Jazeera strongly condemned the killing, terming it a serious violation of international law and journalistic ethics. In its statement, the network said the attack appeared to be a deliberate attempt to intimidate journalists and suppress reporting from the region, rather than an accidental strike.

According to the Gaza Government Media Office, at least 262 journalists have been killed since the escalation of hostilities in October 2023. The office further stated that despite ceasefire arrangements, Israeli military actions have continued, with nearly 2,000 violations reported so far.

Separately, Gaza’s Ministry of Health said that more than 72,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 171,000 injured since the conflict began, while hundreds of additional deaths have been reported even after the ceasefire.

International organizations and press freedom groups have been urged to condemn the incident, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure adequate protection for journalists operating in conflict zones.
