Parliamentarians, Civil society laud Pakistan’s role in easing Iran-US tensions

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Apr, 2026) Parliamentarians, business community and social figures from Rawalpindi on Wednesday praised Pakistan’s diplomatic role in helping reduce tensions between Iran and the United States and averting a potential conflict.

In separate statements, members of the National Assembly (MNA) Malik Abrar Ahmed and Raja Qamarul islam, along with members of the Provincial Assembly(MPA) Malik Iftikhar Ahmed and Malik Mansoor Afsar, said Pakistan had consistently played a constructive role in promoting peace. They said the country’s diplomatic efforts had proved effective during the recent Iran-US tensions, contributing to a ceasefire.

Business leaders, including Sharjeel Mir, Shahid Ghafoor Paracha, Malik Irfan and Chaudhry Tanveer Aslam, said the de-escalation had not only saved lives but also helped stabilise trade and economic activity in the region. They added that Pakistan’s responsible policy had further strengthened its positive global image.

Social figures Haji Zafar Iqbal, Asghar Rajput, Malik Ijaz and Qasim Mughal said a major humanitarian crisis had been averted due to Pakistan’s efforts, noting that any escalation into war could have affected millions of people. They described Pakistan’s role in the ceasefire as a positive step for humanity that had promoted peace and stability.

They said the strategy pursued under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, coupled with diplomatic engagement, had helped build international confidence and encouraged the parties towards negotiations and a ceasefire.

They said the development underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving conflicts and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role in promoting regional and global peace.
