PCRWR briefs FCCI president on groundwater contamination in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2026) A delegation of Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) and Water Quality Laboratory Faisalabad met President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) Farooq Yousaf Sheik and briefed him about the deteriorating groundwater quality and presence of unsafe salts in underground water of Faisalabad city.

During a meeting, the technical team shared findings regarding water samples collected from various localities and highlighted contamination levels and the potential health risks associated with unsafe salinity in drinking water.

They emphasized the need for consistent monitoring and public awareness to ensure safe water consumption.

FCCI President Farooq Yousaf appreciated the briefing and assured full cooperation from the chamber.

He pledged to visit the Water Quality Laboratory and said that FCCI would collaborate closely with the laboratory in monitoring and improving drinking water standards in Faisalabad.

He stressed that provision of safe drinking water was directly linked with public health and industrial sustainability.

Joint efforts between research institutions and business community were imperative to address water-related challenges, he added.

The Water Quality Laboratory, located on Jaranwala Road near the Election Commission Office, continues to conduct regular testing and analysis to support effective water management and safeguard public health in the region, PCRWR team added.
