LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st May, 2026) Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a heat wave alert, saying there is a possibility of an intense heat wave in Punjab from May 25 to 31.
The temperature is expected to be 42 to 45 degrees in Upper Punjab. There is a possibility of an increase in temperature in Lahore, Gujrat, Gujranwala and Hafizabad.
The temperature is likely to reach 47 to 50 degrees Celsius in South Punjab.
Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed directed the Commissioners and DCs to remain alert. He said that in view of the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the administration should remain alert, adding that the weather is expected to remain hotter than usual even at night.
<?php /*?> <?php */?>Due to the intensity of the heat, there is a risk of dusty winds and storms., he said and added that citizens should avoid direct sunlight exposure from 10 am to 4 pm and drink more water. Children, women and senior citizens are advised to take precautions due to the heat wave.
It was emphasised to avoid unnecessary activities in the sun and stay hydrated. Farmers were instructed to take preventive measures to protect crops and animals. Rescuers were instructed to remain alert to help people affected by heat stroke and water shortage.
