SARGODHA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Apr, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Wednesday shut down a water filtration plant located on Sillanwali road and registered a criminal case against its management over poor hygiene and deceptive labeling.
According to a press release issued by the PFA office, the PFA team conducted a raid on the facility after receiving multiple complaints from citizens regarding the quality of the water.
During the inspection, the team found that the plant was operating under extremely unhygienic conditions and was involved in fraudulent activities by using counterfeit labels on their products.
Consequently, the PFA officials shut down the unit and lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the owners for fraud and violating provincial food safety regulations.
The team also confiscated over 1,000 liters of prepared bottled water, while samples were dispatched to the laboratory for further chemical analysis and testing.
The spokesperson added that the PFA is dedicated to providing clean drinking water to the residents of Sargodha and urged citizens to report any such violations or complaints through the official helpline 1223 for prompt action.
